I was delighted to have been invited to meet people using Acorn Community Care in Norton, the staff who look after them and business owners, Chris and Ruth Holliday. They do a fantastic job supporting people with serious learning difficulties. The service has an excellent and well-deserved reputation for the standard of care, the training of staff and its management. There was a very friendly atmosphere and it was obvious that the people using the service were happy and contented. The service provides a range of activities to enjoy every day and I was particularly interested to hear about the new employment opportunities they are developing in crafts, food and agriculture so that the people who attend have a real purpose to their day.
I was particularly struck to hear about one of the service users who had been through a serious illness and were so very well supported by the team at Acorn. It is hard to see how this person could have managed without them.
