Congratulations to the brilliant team from Ampleforth College for winning the International Youth Rocketry Challenge, a global competition where students design, build, and launch model rockets to incredible precision. Their rocket soared to 850 feet in just 45 seconds and safely returned its payload—a raw egg—completely intact! 🥚
The team competed against students from France, Japan, and the USA in the finals at the Farnborough International Airshow, showcasing their exceptional engineering and teamwork skills.
I had the pleasure of meeting these outstanding young people in Parliament, where they displayed their rocket and shared their journey. Their success highlights the incredible potential of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths) initiatives in our schools and the exciting future of the UK space sector.
Thanks to Airbus Early Careers for demonstrating how initiatives like UKROC inspire the next generation of engineers, scientists and innovators in Thirsk and Malton.
