Kevin Hollinrake, MP for Thirsk and Malton, joined Pat Foxton, Chairman of the Livestock Market Company, Councillor Bastiman, and other stakeholders at the Malton Livestock Market last Friday. The visit underscored the economic and community benefits of the market, which has been a longstanding issue for the town.
Recognising the market’s integral role, Kevin Hollinrake announced plans to arrange a meeting in January for North Yorkshire Councillors. This meeting will provide councillors with the opportunity to see the market in action, engage with farmers and auctioneers, and better understand its contributions to the local community and economy.
North Yorkshire Council is currently conducting a survey about the proposed relocation of the Malton Livestock Market to a new site near Eden Camp. The survey, supported by the Livestock Market Company, invites residents to share their views and play a role in shaping the future of the market.

The survey is open now and can be accessed here: https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/B0NCYX
The January meeting and ongoing community consultation are key steps in determining how the market can be best supported beyond the Section 106 funding already allocated for its relocation.
