MP visits innovative engineering company in Pickering
This week Kevin Hollinrake MP visited A1 Microwave Limited in Pickering. He was invited to look round the business by Peter Billington. This design and manufacturing plant exports microwave filtering products to the satcoms, telecoms and radar market around the world. The unique precision engineering technology has been used in a huge variety of projects including coastguard drones in Canada and for the real-time tracking of buses in UK cities.
The MP for Thirsk and Malton was delighted to see another example of an internationally recognised small business thriving in the constituency.
“It was fascinating to see exactly what A1 Microwave creates. I learnt a lot about the importance of the microwave industry especially its use in both transport and military communications. It’s great to see engineering expertise of this calibre being exported from Ryedale across the globe. The success of small businesses like this are vital for our country’s economy and I believe they deserve to be supported and encouraged by government. We need to celebrate British engineering and new innovation. I thank Peter and the staff for taking the time to explain their work to me.”
Owner Peter Billington has been running the business since 2001. He was pleased to be able to show the MP around the site, and show off a selection of A1Microwave’s world beating products that prove that Britain is still at the forefront of international technology, design and production.
