Highways England has reassured Kevin Hollinrake that it is determined that the right solution for the A64 will be in place before the end of 2025, if not earlier. At a meeting with Mr Hollinrake, Highways England hinted that it is hoping to go out to consultation by the end of this year or early next year. A feasibility study, looking at the problems on the A64, will be published in March and a decision on which is the best solution will be made after this. Mr Hollinrake has suggested that the dual carriageway, all the way to Barton Hill or as far as Malton, should be made a priority over the flyover at Hopgrove roundabout, although this would require authorisation from the Department for Transport. Mr Hollinrake said that he is looking forward to seeing the report and will take the matter up with the Secretary of State, Chris Grayling, if Highways England agree this is the best option.
